Hatchet 3 is the horror film of 2013 of the Hatchet series. It follows the continuing adventures of Victor Crowley and his murderous rampage through Honey Island Swamp in Louisiana. Kane Hodder portrays Victor Crowley while Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanbilt plays Misty.



Its use of special effects is the main feature of the film. Hatchet 3 uses a majority of makeup effects that are practical and sets. This is different from the majority of horror films today that rely heavily upon CG effects. It also features several truly terrifying moments.

Kane Hodder stands out as an formidable character. The cast provides an impressive performance. It's like an '80s slasher movie, with the dialogue being a bit too funny and snarky. There are moments of humor throughout the movie which add humour to the bloody action.

Unfortunately because of the small budget (reportedly just $1 million) most locations used are repeats from earlier films in the series--the identical boat house was used twice in the film and much of it appears to (click now to see vid) be a re-use from previous films in the franchise. This can make it seem like it's all too familiar especially for people who've already seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2

Overall, Hatchet 3 was enjoyable, even though it felt like the previous installments within the series. It was filled with gory thrills as well as entertaining performances by the cast members.
